Gerry Boszikis’s tenure in the U.S. Army, where he served from 1992 to 2002, was driven by a profound sense of duty after immigrating to the United States with his family. He felt a deep sense of obligation to serve, driven by the appreciation for the kindness and opportunities that the U.S. has provided to his family. His military journey began at Fort
Bragg in North Carolina, encompassing deployments to various global locations.

Gerry’s military training covered basic and advanced field artillery officer training, alongside courses with the U.S. Air Force and Navy. Valuable skills gained include attention to detail, effective communication, strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities, and a fearless approach to well-intentioned actions.

Over 3 years near the Korean Demilitarized Zone, he served as a Battalion Fire Support Officer and Battery Commander. Subsequently, at the National Training Center in CA, he became a Tactics Instructor.

Leadership and teamwork lessons engrained include building trust through proven actions, setting the example, praising swiftly and reprimanding cautiously, addressing issues promptly, empathizing, and emphasizing loyalty.

Navigating through formidable challenges included confronting the loss of fellow soldiers and communicating this somber news to their families. Overcoming these profound hardships hinged on the healing passage of time. The most gratifying instances were experienced when missions were successfully completed with no casualties.

Memorable moments include his unit placing second in the 2nd Infantry Division Football Championship and third in the 8th Army Football Championship. A notable achievement was achieving the highest reenlistment rate while serving as a commander.

Gerry believes his military service molded him into a flexible, disciplined, and resilient individual, teaching him to prioritize and keep perspective. Learning to disregard opinions from those who don’t know him and staying loyal to individuals of strong moral character were vital takeaways.
